Marriot Basel

Image
The Marriott Basel offers a comfortable and practical stay, ideal for both business and leisure travelers. Conveniently located at Messeplatz Basel, the venue for Art Basel , it stands out as a top choice for fair attendees. The rooms are thoughtfully designed with functionality in mind, featuring sleek, minimalist workspaces enhanced by well-placed lighting to boost productivity. The warm ambiance, achieved through a palette of neutral tones and modern furnishings, creates a relaxing and inviting environment. The amenities, including a Nespresso machine and tea-making station, add convenience to the experience, while small touches like welcome treats create a welcoming vibe. I would prefer they have some drinks in the fridge though. The bathroom is contemporary, featuring a clean layout and quality toiletries. Additionally, the closet space and in-room safe suggest that the hotel caters to extended stays or travelers with valuable belongings. While the aesthetic leans more toward eff...

Life is a bowl of Ramen

Image
There aren’t many foods I can’t live without, and ramen is definitely one of them. Unfortunately, there aren’t many places serving good ramen in Zurich. Miki , however, surprisingly gave me all the  uhhh ahhh  moments I was craving. I was there with a group of friends for a birthday dinner, and the Tantanmen was delicious (though I could’ve used a bit more chili). The sake was warm, and so was the service. The place is quite small, so be sure to make a reservation as they’re usually busy. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Cagliari

Image
Cagliari, located 1 hour 45 minutes away by plane from Zurich, is now one of beautiful Mediterranean islands that I found amazing. Mykonos was beautiful but too windy, Ibiza was a party heaven but.. no but. I like Ibiza. But enough with it. If you were planning for a quiet relaxing break, Cagliari would do you good. Clear green, sometimes dark blue, sea water for chilling after sunbathing on the warm sunny days, inexpensive drinks (Aperol Spritz for 5 euro, hello???), delicious Italian/ sea food, etc. The only thing one had to deal with was the taxi. There was no uber and taxi could cost you easily 18 euro for 11 km/ 22 minutes ride. Rent a car is advisable. This is a heaven for those who like to be in the water. There are some gay beaches with clothing optional. Or to be precisely there are beaches where gay people go for some actions, where the family with children does not go, where there are rocks, such as Mari Pintau (the naturist and gay area is on t...

Gelmersee

Image
Switzerland isn’t just about cheese and banking. In spring and summer, the lakes and Alps become the go-to weekend destinations for locals. It’s hiking season, a time to enjoy fresh air, stunning lakes, crystal-clear water, vibrant wildflowers, and breathtaking landscapes. I was lucky to have a Saturday off and didn’t want to miss the chance to explore Lake Gelmer (or  Gelmersee,  as the locals call it). Just about an hour’s drive from Zurich, followed by a short ride on the Gelmer funicular (be sure to book your tickets in advance!), you’ll find yourself at the top, greeted by the lake’s gorgeous turquoise waters and lush green surroundings, a true feast for the eyes. Though the weather that day was less than ideal, foggy and rainy, the silver lining was the absence of crowds, which made the experience even more serene. The wildflowers lining the paths added a touch of magic, a reminder of the beauty of nature. Sometimes, life feels perfect when we pause to take it all in. ...
